Artist's Description
The Pennine Alps (also known as the Valais Alps) is a segment of the Alps along the Swiss-Italian border. This breathtaking shot of glacier on mountainous terrain was taken from the "Maria zum Schnee" chapel which stands on the shore of Schwarzsee lake. Schwarzsee is just a 12-minute cable car ride from the mountain resort town of Zermatt and is the starting point for ascents of the iconic, pyramid-shaped Matterhorn peak.
