Description
The Great Gate is a red sandstone building that serves as the entrance to the Taj Mahal complex. It is a remarkable building and a fine example of Islamic architecture. However, it doesn't get the attention that it deserves due to its much more famous sister structure to the north, the Taj Mahal. The ivory-white domed marble mausoleum is a visual treat in every respect, making people awestruck in its beauty. This is an image of the masterpiece framed by the arch-shaped doorway of the Great Gate. Everything just aligned to perfection ... people in silhouettes spaced apart equally, legs apart equally and even similar heights on both sides! Such precision mirrored the perfectly organized symmetry of the architecture itself. The main gateway is always crowded, and I had a fortunate moment with such generous gap of space between myself (the photographer) and the people in front. Hence, a rare glimpse of the tiled floor and faint reflection of light. I can't stress enough that this is not staged photography. As the man in the middle raised his camera, I knew that was THE MOMENT! This is a one-of-a-kind shot that cannot be replicated and is unlike any travel posters.
